Full Figured Fashion Week 2014 – Resumen de 2014 Full Figured Fashion Week

photo

The media has an incredible way of highlighting all the negative things attributed with being plus size. We have all seen the commercials of the overweight woman attempting to squeeze into a small pair of jeans, stuffing her face with donuts or better yet, the ones which focus’ on every existing illness that afflicts fat women. Images that feed into the perpetual stereotype that plus size women are unhealthy, sloppy and just plain lazy. Well, models like Denise Bidot, Whitney Thompson and Tara Lynn are out there proving that curves are sexy while inspiring young women to seek out a career path that was traditionally only available to a selective few. That was one of the most evident messages surrounding Full Figured Fashion Week.

United with beautiful curvy women of all shapes, sizes, cultural backgrounds and ethnicity. FFFWeek was a demonstration that the plus size community is a force that the fashion industry needs to pay attention to. Dawned in a variety of fashion options, it was humbling and inspiring to be surrounded by this amazing group of trailblazers. Here’s a look into the events I attended and the amazing women I met.
