Stopping the Self Hate – One mini skirt at a time

One of my first and favorite posts for the blog was one I did last year (I Will Never Wear a Dress) which focused on my issue with my legs and cellulite.  You may have noticed from some of my other skirt posts that I keep my skirts at a safe, cellulite free length, aka below the knee.  And while I welcome a tight, curve hugging pencil skirt any day, I still feel way out of my comfort zone with anything above the knee.  A lot of this has to do with my hate/hate relationship with my cellulite.

So today’s look is an attempt at pushing past my fears and working on loving all parts of my body, even the ones that are difficult to accept.  My legs may not be cellulite free, but they are strong and hold me up even when I feel like I can’t go anymore.  They are curvy and beautiful in their own light.  Most importantly, they are mine and I am fortunate enough to wake up every morning and stand up.

So, in the grand scheme of things, what are a few extra lumps and bumps.  Our bodies are a mirror of perfection, not because they are perfect but because they are our own.

So while I know it is hard to do, today I ask that you be kind to yourself.  That you STOP the self hate that fuels your insecurities, and that you own your perfection.

About the look: I pieced together this look from clothing that I’ve owned for years so everything is obviously sold out. I’m sorry but I have shared a few similar options below.  🙁

Top: Old Navy (similar similar) Skirt: Vintage Eloquii (similar – similar)

How are you pushing past your inner fears and insecurities?
