Often times when it comes to fashion we stick with our "go to" items. You know, those shapes and silhouettes that we KNOW will work with our bodies. This is especially true when dressing for major occasions like a birthday, wedding or a graduation. Sticking to your comfort zone is a must in order to avoid a fashion fiasco, right? Well, recently I was pushed to try something outside of my "go to" and let me tell you that it actually worked out.
When I first saw this dress online I instantly thought it wasn't for me. First, it had "must wear with spanx" written all over it. And ladies, you know I hate spanx, so that was the first no-no. Then it flared at the hips – my hips are the widest part of my body so right there was the second no-no. I will tell you that I didn't even want to try it on because in my heart I was convinced it would be a total fail. Remember, that comfort zone we discussed. Yep, bloggers have them too and this was way out of mine.
Upon the request of the amazing Fashion to Figure team I decided to give the dress a shot. And ladies, that's when I fell in love!
Much to my surprise I didn't need spanx and the flared hip things actually didn't look bad. I felt beautiful and elegant in the dress and the color was just everything! I went with a size 2 but I think I could have sized down to a 1. I finished off the look with my favorite obi belt and neutral wedges. With a huge smile on my face I was ready to dance the night away.
So there you have it ladies, every once in a while it pays off to step outside of your comfort zone. You might be surprised with what you fall in love with.
