Ladies, do you sometimes feel like you got a super cute dress for a fancy occasion and then it just sits in your closet, never to be worn again? Now, I know that I can't be the only one with a stash of what I call "one time use" dresses. Well for those of you that are with me, today's post is all about repurposing and restyling a dress and making it functional for everyday use.
So I got this dress for New York Fashion Week and as soon as I put it on I loved it. The bright pink color and ruffled details were so feminine and delicate and the lightweight fabric was so easy to wear. I sized up from my normal 18 to a 20 to accommodate my growing baby bump and paired the look with a fun belt and cute shoes. Ladies, this dress is everything and I was ready for a night of New York City fabulousness.
For my repurposed look I decided to make this look work for a typical weekend. You know, brunch, shopping, running errands, etc. I knew I wanted to be comfortable and unrestricted so the first thing to go was the belt and the shoes. On came my favorite sneakers, a denim jacket – because the weather is finally starting to turn here in NY and a little backpack for all of my weekend goodies. At first I wasn't sure if this look would work but I felt completely comfortable in it and in the end I think I loved this look just as much as I did the original one.
So there you have it ladies, my evening to weekend look. Moving forward I am going to try harder at repurposing my fancy looks since it really is a shame to just have them sit there. What are ways you've restyled your wardrobe?
