I will admit I love makeup! I love playing in it, getting all dolled up and trying out new looks. I don’t consider myself an expert but basically just a girl who likes to play in color. This year for the holidays I’ve been experimenting with a few new looks. Instead of sticking to the traditional reds and golds I have been loving softer tones like pink, silver and rose gold.
I am a huge Sephora fan – Rouge member in the house! I particularly love that I can find Sephora Inside JCPenney and stock up on all the new makeup and skincare goodies while shopping for other essentials for my family. Talk about one stop shopping, which during the holidays and 9 months pregnant is critical!
For today’s look I used the amazing new Distortion Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay. Ladies, I love a gorgeous eyeshadow palette and this one is stunning plus, it has some really cool features. Using a layering effect you can easily create a shifty multidimensional duotone eyeshadow look by pairing any of top row colors with any of the colors in the second and third row. The palette even has little lines that serve as indicators of which colors mix well together – perfect for a novice like me. It retails for $49 which is a steal given all of the color combinations you can make with it.
So to create today’s eye look I first used Urban Decay’s Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion. My eyes are pretty small so eyeshadow primer is critical for me. Without primer you can pretty much say bye bye to my eyeshadow by midday. I also love that the primer give my eyes a neutral base to work off of and truly let the eyeshadow color shine.
Next up it was time to get into this amazing palette. I started off with the color Blur as my base. This color is a beautiful soft pink which I knew would go perfectly with the look I was trying to create. Next I used the color Rogue in my crease. I love using a purple color shadows because it perfectly accents my brown eyes. Next, I used the color Velvet on top of Rouge to make it pop. Don’t be afraid to experiment with a darker, bolder color. You can always go back and blend it down if the look is too intense for your liking. Last but not least, I sprayed a little Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray on my brush and with the wet brush went back into the color Blur. Ladies, this is the game changer right here! By using a wet brush you instantly intensify the shadow color. Pop that in the corner of your eyes to give yourself a gorgeous wide-eyed look.
To finish off the look I decided to line my eyes on the top and bottom with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero. If you are looking for a super black eye pencil, this is definitely it and a bonus it glides on so easily! Now on to mascara, yes, I still haven’t mastered false lashes so I rely heavily on a great mascara for a dramatic look and I love Urban Decay’s Troublemaker Mascara. I used about two coats and I was off to finish my look with a cute lip!
Now for a lip I wanted something soft and romantic that would let my eyes shine so I picked Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Rush and then layered on the amazing Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Backtalk. If you are into a matte look but hate the dryness they cause then you need to check out this lippie. Right now it’s my favorite go to color!
Ok, now that my eyes are all set, my face is contours and highlighted to the heavens, it is time to set this look and what better way then with Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. Yes, your makeup is not budging with this bad boy and this is critical because with many holiday events in one day my makeup look needs to work from day to night.
So ladies, there you have it. If you are looking for an awesome palette perfect for the holiday, this one definitely gets a two thumbs up from me. It is also the perfect gift for that makeup lover in your life. And guess what?!
