Don’t Kill My Vibe! Tackling the Work Place Jumpsuit

The jumpsuit trend is still going strong this season which I am ecstatic about. I love being able to pull one item out of my closet and essentially be ready to walk out of the door. Plus, I find jumpsuits so incredibly figure flattering and elongating. A patterned jumpsuit does wonders for hiding a few extra lumps and bumps, making you look elegantly pull together. When picking out a jumpsuit for work, there are a few items you should keep in mind.

  1. Fabric: You want to pick something that is not a clingy material. Look for a heavier weight fabric that will hold its own shape and not stick to your backside.
  2. Fit: Fit is critical with a jumpsuit, especially one you plan to wear to work. Again, beware of a suit that is too fitted to your body. When in doubt, size up and consider SPANX or other support foundation garments. Also, either stay away from plunging necklines or slip on a camisole. Jumpsuits bring a lot of attention to your overall body, so their isn’t a need to bring even more attention to your bust line.
  3. Color and pattern: Personally, I prefer either a black jumpsuit or a jumpsuit with a small pattern for work. Again, because a jumpsuit by nature brings a lot of attention to your overall figure, for work related purposes, I don’t see the need to pick bold colors and print patterns. I let the suit and your shape speak for itself.

Bonus Tip: When in doubt, toss on a blazer. A blazer will do wonders for pulling your look together and provide you with a little additional coverage. Once out the office doors, slip on a pair of sexy pumps, pull off that blazer and add some eye catching accessories to take your day look to night.

About the Look: This look comes via Fashion to Figure. Fashion to Figure is a fun, trendy junior plus brand that brings adorable stylish items to the plus size community. I personally always size up with them since I don’t wear a lot of fitted clothing for work. I am in a 3X in both the blazer and the jumpsuit. Regarding the Safari Animal Print Jumpsuit, it is a lightweight fabric that is perfect for spring and summer weather. It has pockets which I love and a sexy plunging neckline, which makes it perfect for sexy weekend nights. I will note that it doesn’t have a zipper and, as with most jumpsuits, bathroom time can be somewhat interesting. The length was perfect on my 5’3″ frame, but I think it would look just as good on a taller frame as well. I probably could have sized down to a 2X, so if you are in between sizes shoot for the smaller size. The Barcelona Crepe Blazer in this look is lightweight and perfect for this time of the year. I love the cascade effect down the front and that it covers my backside well. This little guy will get a lot of use out of me! Next up is this super cute clutch. I really love Fashion to Figure bags; actually I own more of their bags then I do their clothing. Their bags are really beautifully designed and are nice quality for the price point. I can definitely see something like this selling for twice as much at other retailers.

So, what are your thoughts regarding jumpsuits in the work place? Is it a yay or nay?

I’ve always hesitated to wear jumpsuits because you practically have to get undressed to take care of bathroom business. Who wants that hassle and possible fabric on the floor or seat? EW! Is this still an issue with these newer style garments?

I too am OBSESSED with jumpsuits. I wear them to work and I wear them out to ‘play’ as well. They are all over my blog right and I cannot get over how perfect and versatile they are. They can be both casual and dressy, depending on the accessories you combine them with!
