#CurvasenNYC Collaboration: Not So Ugly Christmas Sweater Style

The plus size fashion community is buzzing with so many gorgeous looks for the holiday season. From glam dresses and sequin to fur, this year the options are endless, as you saw with my last #CurvasenNYC post featuring party looks from Fashion to Figure.

This week, my girls and I got together with Avenue to pull styles for a more relaxed holiday look. Now contrary to popular belief, I love a cozy comfortable outfit as much as a fancy one. Actually, on the weekend you will typically catch me in jeans, a cute sweater and flats. That is pretty much my M.O. So when my girls came to visit me in the Bronx recently, we decided to jump into the holiday spirit with a ‘not so ugly’ sweater look perfect for just hanging out, shopping, or visiting Santa.

Now, about the look… The star of this fashion show is hands down this super cute “Oh Deer” Christmas sweater from Avenue. I loved that the sweater was not red or green. During the holidays, it seems like EVERYTHING is red and green and honestly those are not my favorite colors. The black top is neutral, allowing me to pair it with any other color throughout the holiday season. Plus, the black backdrop really made the white lettering pop, which added character to the top.

I paired the sweater with Avenue’s Velvet Leggings. Now I will admit, I was a little nervous about these leggings. I carry a lot of my weight in my lower half and honestly I haven’t worn velvet since the 90’s so all I could think about was that ultra shinny fabric that showed everything and left little to the imagination. Well, these leggings were definitely not those KIND of leggings. They were not only comfortable but also very flattering. I loved that I can pair them with a sweater for a casual affair or a dressy top for the office.

Last but certainly not least, is this fabulous Windowpane Faux Wool Coat. Now ladies, when you live in a cold weather location for 6+ months out of the year, two things are critical when purchasing outerwear.

First, it must be practical, meaning it has to work for many aspects of your life. To me a great coat is one that I can wear to work and on the weekend and it still looks fabulous! Second, it needs to be special. Now what makes it special is completely up to you but in the winter, your coat is the first thing people see. It is your only fashion item that is consistently visible to the world. It should project something about you, who you are and what you love. For every woman that statement is a different one but please don’t spend your entire fall and winter season in dark, sad, uninspiring outerwear. As plus size women, we finally have so many great options to choose from.

Anyway, back to the coat. This Avenue coat is an excellent addition for anyone looking for something medium weight. It has faux wool lining and an a-line design. To me, this is the perfect car coat. Easy to throw on and looks fabulous with just about everything.

Well ladies, I hope you are enjoying this special holiday series from #CurvasenNYC. Make sure to check out Marcy of Fearlessly Just Me and Dana of Who’s That Girl Dana? for full details on their cozy holiday looks.

Oh and stay tuned to our last and final look of this series coming soon! Here’s a hint, it will feature fur, leather, sequin and lace!

Please note: While this was a sponsored post from Avenue, all opinions are my own.
