Because you don’t always have to match – to match!

In true Latina form, I grew up in a household where everything matched. The curtains matched the rug, that matched to the bathroom towels that of course matched the bedroom sheet sets. And yes, that rule also extended to our fashion selections.

There was never, ever a time when I left the house without a perfectly matched looked that was usually matched to what my brother and sister wore. Yea that was my childhood and I will admit that I think my mom cringes when she sees me pull together a completely unmatched look. Sorry, mom! Times have changed! Thank goodness for that.

Fashion today is unapologetic, unpredictable and basically without rules and yea I love it. For today’s fullbeauty.com look I decided to have fun mixing patterns, metals, leather and a little color for a perfectly unmatched matched look.

First up is this Windowpane Tunic from Jessica London. Guys, I really love a great windowpane item. Something about the lines and the black & white print that just pulls at my heart. I paired this top with this curve hugging Midi Stripe Skirt from City Chic. This skirt is a must! I’ve paired it for work and play and it’s perfect! It also has a zipper straight down the back middle which is uber sexy!

I finished off the look with my favorite moto jacket from Moda Mix. I added a metallic bag (similar – high end, similar – low end) and for contrast, a pop of pretty pink (similar – high end, similar – low end) to help soften the look and provide some color to the ensemble.

Now if my mom was over, she would have made me switch out the metallic bag for a pink one and who knows, maybe add a pink bow – um, no mom!

Anyway, I don’t know about you but I love the contrast of this look and the unexpected color that doesn’t belong to anything but at the same time goes with everything.
